Academic Performance of Charter Schools in Arkansas: 2011-2012

Volume 10, Issue 1
January, 28, 2013

This brief provides an analysis of the academic performance of the independent public charter school sector in Arkansas in the 2011-12 school year. We assessed the academic performance of individual independent public charter schools in two dimensions: 1) academic attainment (the absolute level of performance at the end of the school year); and 2) academic growth using value-added models (student learning gains from one year to the next). Student level data on state standardized reading and math tests in grades 3 through 8 were analyzed.
