In case you don’t know, the annual school accountability (ESSA) scores and Letter Grades are available! You can find them for all schools here or look up individual schools at MySchoolInfo.
This is the first time that Letter Grades have been assigned since 2019, and fewer schools are getting the top grades. Only 8% received an “A” compared to 16% in 2019. On the other end of the scale, 9% of schools received an “F” compared to 4% prior to the pandemic.
We will have more details out tomorrow but the pandemic shock to student achievement provides a good opportunity to think about how ESSA scores and associated Letter Grades are assigned and if they are indicating quality the way we would hope to be.
